The Voice kicked off this week for season nine and the blind auditions have already showcased some amazing talent, while making us cry far more than what should be allowed.

Last night’s blind auditions had it all: from the fabulous Jimi the Kween, to Kelly Rowland helping out a new performer on stage, and even a performance from a singer in a One Direction tribute band, because that’s a thing that exists.

But there were two key moments in last night’s episode which really got the waterworks going and all we can say is thank god tissues can be bought relatively easy again after the initial coronavirus shortage.

First up, Guy Sebastian’s brother Chris decided to audition, making his older brother get all emotional. Chris has previously featured on season one of The Voice, back before Guy was a judge but didn’t love his time on the show or the comparisons to his famous brother.

Chris came back for a second shot and his performance of the song ‘Jealous’ by Labyrinth got a four-chair turn.

Chris decided to choose Team Kelly but viewers’ hearts were warmed by the Sebastian brothers and how proud they are of each other.

But it was Aussie singer/songwriter Timothy James Bowen who really got people emotional after his beautiful performance, which Delta credited as one of the best male vocals she’s heard in the blind auditions.

Timothy’s backstory of being diagnosed with a form of blood cancer in 2015 moved the judges and fans of the show, but it was the moment where he sang a song he wrote for his wife that really got people emotional.

Watch Timothy’s full The Voice performance of the song ‘The Greatest Thing’ dedicated to his wife right here, and prepare to weep.
