The Voice is back in a big way. The reality singing competition is on a new network and has a new set of coaches to contend with — and so far, the blind auditions are proving to be a massive ratings success.

This year’s coaches are Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy, Keith Urban and Rita Ora, who are currently duking it out over which singers are on their teams this season. Winning over the contestants is a huge part of the show and British import, Rita, has already brushed a promising singer the wrong way. Jordan Fuller auditioned with a rousing rendition of Harry Styles’ ‘Falling’, leading to all four coaches spinning their chairs for him.

But in a bizarre moment, Rita ran up to Jordan with her arms outstretched, only to then grab the microphone off him — leaving Jordan unsure of what happened. Jordan took to TikTok to recap the awkward encounter, writing “The way that I thought Rita Ora was going in for a hug but she wasn’t will haunt my dreams.”

Watch it below and try not to cringe:

In Rita’s defence, the full video shows she was trying to do a mic drop moment in an effort to praise Jordan’s performance, but it’s still no less uncomfortable to watch back. Following deliberation, Jordan chose Guy to be his coach — a possible slight in reaction to Rita’s hug rejection?? — so hopefully the ‘Your Song’ singer learns something from this.

This week will see the final blind auditions before the battle rounds commence.

The Voice airs Sunday at 7pm and Monday/Tuesday at 7:30pm on Channel 7.
