Episode 9:

The fight to the death is heating up, with only three blokes left in the race to win over Frosty’s love on The Bachelorette Australia. The past week has seen stacks of Bachelorette rumours that have kept us on our feet and tonight we get more answers.

Episode nine opens with Sam getting all deep and meaningful with herself and a long stick on the beach. She really likes that stick. The sun is setting and we’re treated with lush sweeping landscapes, panoramas and about ten different versions of the same sunset that producers scatter throughout the rest of the episode.

There’s no bullshit now. We don’t bother with introductions and ‘date cards’ in episode nine, no. The Bachelorette and it’s audience are on ‘best mate’ terms now, and so we gladly dive headfirst in to the juicy stuff.

Sasha kicks things off and is blindfolded in the back of a car so that he doesn’t realise Sam has trolled him in to going skydiving. This is of course despite Sam being fully aware of his paralysing fear of heights. For the next 15 minutes he proceeds to make stupid faces as he absorbs his impending doom. It’s good television.

In dramatic fashion, love takes Sasha by the balls and Sam tosses him off with another bloke strapped to his back. It’s not the ’50 Shade of Frost’ that Sash was hoping for, but it’s better than nothing.

Then it’s Richie’s turn to impress. Ladies and gents, the date budget has lifted and we have been gifted a second aircraft in the one episode.

Despite the rumours earlier in the week that Richie was in NZ when footage of the date was used for publicity, turns out they’ve only popped down the road to Falls Creek after all. To summarise it very quickly, Sam and Richie have a lame snowball fight, make snow angels and then hug it out as Richie solidifies his place for eternity in the ‘Friend Zone’. It’s all over for Richie Rich.

Next up Frosty is waiting for Ice King Michael, and she looks like a giddy school girl with a new crush. She’s busting to kiss him. Michael tactically uses his time to seed the idea that Frost should propose to him, only it comes off awkward. Sam tries and fails with a ‘but look – there’s a bridge! It fails and makes everything a whole heap more awkward.

They then spot some whales and Michael is totally blown away. It’s actually the best thing to have ever happened in his life. Possibly because he’s been busy trying to carve our a soccer career while launching a real estate business. To quote Michael, “Whales are the coolest things ever now” – so there you have it.

Then it’s off to the house mansion where Richie is booted off. It’s a big moment, but we’re all too busy trying to pit Michael and Sasha against each other. Only one can win.
