Your new reality TV obsession is on it’s way. Get ready for Single AF.

Despite its pretty lame title – FYI translating as ‘Single Available Famous’ – the new MTV series has all the ingredients to become a huge sensation.  Having just had it’s Facebook launch overnight and it’s fair to say that people are getting excited.

The reality dating show has selected celebs from across the world and is sending them on dates with reg people. Most notably, there’s an Australian on it, drag superstar Courtney Act, along with Geordie Shore’s Marnie Simpson. It looks like it’s going to be amazing telly but what do we know about it so far?

Here’s absolutely EVERYTHING we know about MTV’s Single AF:

WTAF is this show about?

The TV series will follow celebs over two weeks of dating people from all corners of the world. After the dates, after each celeb has their chosen love interest, the entire gang will meet up in Paris where they’ll “live in a reality star house like Celebrity Big Brother – with plus ones”.

Tbh, it sounds like First Dates meets The Real World but for famous people with the drama of  Married At First Sight draaaamar. As part of the series, the different celebs will be set challenges that will push them out of their comfort zones and forced to look for love in unexpected ways. Bring. The Drama.

What’s particularly groundbreaking about the show, is that MTV is billing the first period of Single AF as an interactive experience as viewers can weigh in on the celeb’s dates in real time. It’s already begun after the series kicked off last night.

An added bonus is that anyone can apply to date their desired celeb and fans can influence who will be picked to go on dates and which special person will be taken to Paris.

Who are the celebs?

Courtney Act

As the biggest drag queen in Australia, Courtney Act is no stranger to the spotlight. Courtney a.k.a Shane Janek has been dominating the drag scene over the last decade, but gained even more international notoriety after starring in season six of RuPaul’s Drag Race. She has since been touring the globe and remains as one of the biggest names in drag worldwide. (Can you tell, we’re v. proud!)

Now, Courtney is looking for lurve, and she’s leaving her options open to new possibilities. “I’m aware that some people may have some sensitivity to dating somebody who is sometimes a girl and sometimes a boy,” she told The Sun Online.

“I’m looking for someone who is very comfortable with themselves and confident,” she said, adding, “I’ve been extremely attracted to women and I’ve had relations with women and I’m not even opposed to exploring that on Single AF.”

Boys/girls, batter up for the chance to date Australia’s unofficial kween.

Marnie Simpson

Admittedly, the most famous face among the bunch, Geordie Shore’s Marnie Simpson is sure to break hearts. She’s a natural on reality TV, coming straight from a season of Geordie and a stint on Celebrity Big Brother in the U.K.

While many assumed that Marnie was all loved up with her castmate Aaron Chalmers, Marnie is claiming she’s single and ready to mingle and won’t have any trouble meeting boys (and girls) lining up to date the gorg brunette.

Jedward

These twins might not be super famous in Australia, but over in the UK the iconic Irish twins from X Factor are household names. Aussies would be most familiar with the twosome from their oddly hilarious performance in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest.

They have since appeared on Celebrity Big Brother, and while John and Edward Grimes are usually joined at the hip, and barely spend a day apart from each other, they will be splitting up in order to find the right girl.

Farrah Abraham

American representative on the show Farrah Abraham is most known for her role on MTV US show, Teen Mom. At 26 years-old, the young mum is hoping to find “the one” on the TV show – but get in quick fellas, as Farrah is claiming that this is the last time she will EVER appear on a reality show. Yep, sure love.

“I will always have a place in my heart for reality TV as I’ve history in reality television and for social issues time and time again – but I must continue creating in a different way in my free time,” she told The Sun Online.

Elliot Crawford

Elliot Crawford is most known for his mammoth following on YouTube, boasting over 457,000 subscribers on his channel. He has made cameo appearances in music videos for Olly Murs and Louisa Johnson, Elliot is also besties with some of the biggest YouTubers in the biz and is low-key obsessed with Drake and Ariana Grande.

Casey Johnson

Another new face to most Aussies – but a pretty one at that – Casey Johnson was a temporary member of English boy band Union J – although he only lasted a year with the group and was axed in April 2017. He initially found fame on X-Factor, being put into another boy band Stereo Kicks, which finished fifth in the 2014 series. He is sure to attract many suitors, and with amazing hair like dat, you can sign me up too.

Can the celebs date each other?

The intention of the show is for the celebs to meet and date people in the real world, like you and I.

BUT, we know that the producers are probs despo to see some of the celebs hook up with each other. That’s gotta be the goal, right? Putting so many famous babes together in one house, it’s gonna get hawt in hereeee. There’s already rumours that Marnie has her eye on Casey, while both Casey and Elliot are keen on Marnie. BRING IT.

When can we expect to see the series?

Unlike other TV series’ the plan with Single AF is to rollout the celebs dates from June 26 through July 11 on MTV’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat accounts. The actual TV series will air on MTV in November.
