If you’re a fan of Pretty Little Liars and Center Stage, then Netflix’s new ballet whodunnit Tiny Pretty Things will be right up your street.

The 10-episode series is set at a prestigious ballet school in Chicago, and takes place in the days following one of the prima ballerina students being err…pushed off a roof. Another promising ballet student, Neveah, attends the school in her place and as she tries to discover who pushed her, she soon finds out that the dance college is hiding all kinds of dirty secrets.

I binged the show in the space of two nights, and while there’s no denying it’s addictive, it’s also rather problematic at times. I had to keep reminding myself that these ballerinas were high school students, because they do some truly cooked things — as well as have to endure some straight-up abusive behaviour from the adults in their lives.

The series is also too short for all the ground it tries to cover. Relationships start and end in the space of one episode, and viewers never get the chance to become fully invested in many of the ballet students’ stories. That being said, it’s still extremely entertaining, includes some pretty groundbreaking queer sex scenes for teen TV, and the dance sequences are truly spectacular.

While the show is a mixed bag, the tweets are too good.
