Start screaming and hollering and throwing things around the room, because we’re getting a sequel to 2018s best rom-com, Netflix’s breakaway hit To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. Here’s everything we know about the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before sequel.

And I’m just so excited.

Update:

We’ve had an officially official confirmation from the stars of To All The Boys that we’re getting the sequel, in the form of an extremely cute video on Lana Condor’s Instagram. It’s so exciting! In the video, our actual queen Lana talks to the internet’s boyfriend Noah Centineo about the sequel’s confirmation, with some cute little To All The Boys references, such as Noah’s trademarked “woah, woah, woah”.

We also got some weird Christmas Prince spon-con — stop trying to make The Christmas Prince 2 happen.

Plus, they’re teasing the casting of the next love-interest, John Ambrose.

Anyway, watch it!

If you’re unfamiliar, To All The Boy’s I’ve Loved Before is based on the New York Times bestselling book of the same name by Jenny Han, which follows the story of 16-year-old Korean-American Lara Jean, played by Lana Condor, who for various reasons must pretend to date the most popular boy in school to help her get over another boy. It’s the best.

It’s been called “the teen romance of the decade”, and Netflix announced that it’s one of the “most viewed original films ever”, and was also touted for attracting “strong repeat viewing”.

In a story for The Hollywood Reporter, it was announced that Paramount has made a multi-picture deal with Netflix, which could mean a major shift in the industry.

“Movie studios are no longer making films just for themselves, but for the deep-pocketed technology companies that have become Hollywood’s latest conquistadors. And it’s not hard to visualize a time soon when an iconic studio like Paramount becomes a mere supplier.”

Cool! Whatever! But included in the story like it wasn’t even a thang was this tasty tidbit:

“One of the first movies being discussed for the Paramount-Netflix deal will be a sequel to To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (the first film was made by Awesomeness, which Viacom acquired in August, and the new movie likely will retain the Awesomeness banner).”

We’re not entirely sure what the sequel will entail, but considering To All The Boys was based off the first book in a trilogy, we can probably guess it will continue that story.

Director Susan Johnson said earlier in the year in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that she’d like to explore the love triangle that emerges halfway through the second book in the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before sequel, which revolves around John Ambrose McLaren who is also one of the recipients of Lara Jean’s love letters.

CANNOT WAIT.
