Todd Said He’s Still In Love With Ali, But Is Also Open To Being 2019’s Bachelor
Last night we watched Todd King get his heart ripped out and thrown across the murky NT swampland, as Ali Oetjen found an everlasting love with another man.
Todd made an impression on Ali (and us) straight away, rocking up to the Bachy mansion in a suit of armour, ready to be Ali’s shining knight.
He was a slow burn, finally getting a solo date mid-season and quickly fell in love with our Bachy Queen, which made it harder to see his beautiful, pure heart get broken last night.
Amid the whirlwind of media and interviews, we had a quick chat to Todd to see how he’s doing since the truth came to light.
On whether his Instagram DMs have blown TF up:
“It’s been crazy, I’d say I’ve had hundreds. But it’s not what you think, it’s a lot of people relating to heartbreak and voicing their support and it’s been so lovely. I’ve been trying to write back to as many people as I can.”
On watching the finale back and all of Australia wanting to date him:
“Everyone’s been so supportive. I watched the episode with some friends and it was pretty emotional to be honest, I didn’t expect to shed any tears but it got to me a bit. I feel like my head is going to explode I’m so overwhelmed.”
On his last date with Ali and their sneaky waterfall pash:
“We were outside of the waterfall and all the guys were up outside of the water, so I thought I’d grab her quickly for a private kiss under the waterfall and halfway through the kiss I opened my eyes and one of the blokes had pulled out an underwater camera. They’re bloody quick, I tell ya!”
On the moment he knew he wasn’t going to be the one:
“When I stepped out of the car the sinking feeling came, I looked at her and she wasn’t smiling at me the same way. What you guys didn’t get to see was we actually kissed and she was a little standoffish with it, and that’s when I knew.”
On how he felt after:
“I was trying to hold it together but you could just see when I collapsed and it felt like a kick in the guts. I tried to pull myself together and everyone from the crew was also emotional, it was tough for everybody. They invest their time too, they invest in the love story, so it’s hard for everyone.”
On watching back the show and moving on:
“You don’t really know until you step outside that bubble. It amplifies things, but my feelings were there and I was definitely in love with her. I think I still do love her, it’s only now that everything’s come to an end that I can start to move on.”
On whether he’s kept in touch with Taite or Ali:
“Throughout the whole thing, Taite and I talked every day and then we got to catch up in Fiji. I haven’t heard from Ali but just through Taite.”
On whether he’d be the next Bachelor:
“Most definitely I’d consider The Bachelor if I was in that mind frame. It’s still a bit raw at the moment, but I’m invested in this process and it worked for Tim and Anna, Sam and Snez, and hopefully Ali and Taite as well, so I’d be willing.”
On Bachelor In Paradise:
“You definitely won’t see me on BIP, it’ll be an interesting one! I’m good friends with Bill and friends with Brooke as well, maybe those two will get together, they’re both awesome down to earth people. I’m looking forward to seeing how things will unfold.”
On joining the police force:
“I’m going to do a good block of training and hand in applications around the country and go from there!”
