Australia Has A New Exclusive Dating App For People Who Went To Private School
Ever swiped through Tinder and thought “Man, I wish I could only see privately educated men?” Neither, but now there’s an app for that!
Forget Hinge and put down Bumble: a new dating app is launching in Australia but there’s one catch… it’s for people who went to private school.
Yes, in this modern day of 2019, an app named Toffee is coming our way, so those who were privately educated can stick together against the big, scary world of other ordinary people.
Toffee was first launched in the UK and, in their own words, this is what they’re all about:
“We set it up because we know people from similar backgrounds are more likely to stick together. Toffee connects the right people to help them find their match with our sophisticated matching algorithm taking care of all your dating homework.”
The app features a sliding scale feature so you can match people based on how similar your interests are when it comes to things like sports, art and culture, and “the city”. (Don’t ask me, I’m just the messenger here.)
It also features questions you can fill out (similar to Bumble and Hinge) so people can learn more about you, but most importantly: you can put together your dream dinner menu so your match knows that you’re all about that fine dining life.
Here’s Toffee’s pre-filled answers for your menu of choice:
Here’s mine:
Time to put down the $8 bottle of rosé and upgrade to Moét, bitches.
While the app is now available to download and sign up for (though applications need to be approved first) it won’t officially begin the matching action for another two weeks.
While the app looks very Gossip Girl-esque, it’s interesting to note that your generic smaller town Catholic schools in Australia seem to be included in the search of private schools so you’re not automatically ruled out if you didn’t attend a fancy city private school. (Sorry public schoolers but, tbh, I think you’re doing just fine without this.)
It’s still to be seen whether Toffee realises the differences between a private school in say, Wagga, vs. the UK ones they’ve based their app on, but stay tuned.
BRB, just need to go brush up on my knowledge of Polo and Google something…
Now if someone could just make an app where they ban me from swiping right on people with J names, then that would be ideal.
