Batten Down The Hatches: Tornado And Extreme Storms Issued For Sydney Storm

A mammoth storm is sweeping in on Sydney with golf-sized hail stones falling in the south and an official tornado warning issued with wind gust of more than 200km recorded by the BoM. In a statement, the Bureau warned Sydneysiders:
Tornadoes, very destructive winds, large hailstones and very heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding are likely.
The Bureau radar images suggested a tornado was possible at Kurnell, in Sydney’s south, where a gust of more than 200km/h was recorded at 10.30am. You can find the full tornado warning issued by BoM here.
Channel Nine News is reporting that wind gusts of up to 91km/h were earlier recorded at Bellambi Point, before the storm was deemed “very dangerous”. It’s believed the the storm will hit the city and Bondi beach areas sometime around 11.15am this morning.

According to SMH:
“A host of domestic flights have also been delayed, diverted or cancelled.
Four Sydney-bound Qantas flights – QF420, QF422, QF426, QF430 – have been delayed in Melbourne.
Virgin flights VA837, VA841 and VA845 have also been delayed, as well as Jetstar flight JQ508.”
