This Trailer For Upcoming Heath Ledger Doco Is A Sucker Punch Straight To The Heart
SO. MANY. FEELS.
The first trailer for Heath Ledger memoriam documentary ‘I Am Heath Ledger’ has just dropped online, and boy is it a kick in the guts.
As part of director Derik Murray’s ‘I Am’ series, the film screens never-before seen home footage of the actor, and is a rare glimpse of Ledger’s personal life and his passion for film – on and behind the camera.
“There were always cameras around, a video camera, a polaroid camera or the film camera. That’s the only way I think of him,” Christina Cauchi said in the trailer.
Featuring friends, family members and fellow film colleagues, including ‘Brokeback Mountain’ director Ang Lee, all paying tribute to Ledger’s contribution to film.
“Before Brokeback Mountain came out it would have been unthinkable to have a romantic tragedy involving two gay cowboys. This is one of the biggest heartthrobs on Earth taking on that character — that’s an artist,” Ben Mendelsohn said.
‘I Am Heath Ledger’ premieres at the Tribeca Film Festival on 23 April and will be in cinemas on 3 May. The film comes 9 years after the actor was found dead, after intoxication from prescription drugs.
“He wanted fame, and then when he got it, he didn’t want it,” filmmaker and friend, Matt Amato said.
Get ready for all the tears.
