Will Ferrell Is Set To Produce And Star In An Uber-Themed Movie
Comic superstar Will Ferrell is reportedly signed up to take one of two lead roles in an Uber-themed movie he will produce for Universal.
It’s believed the 47-year-old actor will put his career on the line in the seemingly risky production that will focus on a journey booked through the ride-sharing app. We’ll be honest – after Anchor Man 2, Zoolander 2 and Daddy’s Home (which is also copped the green light for a second movie ?) – our hopes aren’t high.
It seems Ferrell is following the Adam Sandler carer path by exhaustingly trying to replicate the same dumb role over and over. To be honest, we’re growing a little tired of it.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ferrell will play an Uber driver, who unbeknownst to him, picks up an escaped convict in his cab and the pair set off on a raucous ride. His ‘Anchorman ‘ collaborator and director Adam McKay will also join him as a producer and the script is in the process of being finished by comedic screenwriter Brendan O’Brien.
Ferrell’s project is not the only Uber-related movie currently in the works. Fox is tapping in to the hype and has also purchased the rights to make the film ‘Stuber‘ which has a completed script but is yet to find a cast. ‘Stuber’ it will revolve around a “grizzled cop working the most dangerous case of his career” investigating a crime committed either involving an Uber journey or a driver.
