Everyone’s Responding To Vogue’s Kendall Jenner & Gigi Hadid Tweet With The Same Hilarious Answer
Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner fans got their panties in a twist this week over comments made by model pro Rebecca Romijn. Romijn stated in an interview that:
“No one has proven yet that numbers of followers [on social media] translates to revenue. So it is frustrating.
I know a lot of people — legitimate fashion people — can’t stand it. Hate it that these, you know, social media stars[Hadid and Jenner] are now the supermodels in fashion. They are not true supermodels”
Cue: hysteria, outrage and violent fist-shaking.
Romijn has been modelling for over 25 years and has graced every cover you can imagine, along with sharing the runway with the likes of model legends Claudia Schiffer, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford and Christy Turlington. So does she have the right to deem what a ‘true supermodel‘ is, well… yep.
Is it that controversial to ponder whether a 20 and 21 year old that have benefited from a hell-of-a lot of exposure and connections from their privileged background in reality tv families, can be deemed actual supermodels?
In response to Romijn’s comments, Vogue UK decided to tweet the following rhetorical question:
Who said that Kendall and Gigi are not “true supermodels”? https://t.co/n1sRryghiD pic.twitter.com/7tjcgfY2D2
— British Vogue (@BritishVogue) April 27, 2016
However, they didn’t expect the response the question elicited. As people jumped on the bandwagon, answering a definitive: “EVERYONE”.
Maybe Gigi and Kendall aren’t so untouchable, hey?
Here’s a pretty fair example of the reactions to their tweet:
So yeah, soz Ken-Gi but:
