Waleed Aly used his ‘Something We Should Talk About’ segment on Network Ten’s The Project tonight to sensationally summarise exactly how we can stop ISIL. Since being uploaded on Facebook only two hours ago, the video is going viral for all the right reasons, with well over 2 million views and counting while trending across social media.

By simplifying ISIL’s main goals, the clip highlights the importance for Australians to embrace our Muslim communities more than ever in the face of fear and terror.

They key message is that ISIL want to create a divide. They are encouraging us to turn against Muslim people with hate, alienating and diving our society. This is a strategy that has helped them to radicalise Muslims in the Middle East, and is something they’re now attempting to take global. So essentially, by being a dick, you’re only fuelling the hate and helping the enemy.

“They want you to fear them. They want you to get angry. They want all of us to become hostile”

Taking on ISIL sounds complex, but ‘all you need is love’.
