WATCH: Looks Like Lady Gaga Faked Her Super Bowl Opening, Was Still Epic AF
We can all agree that Lady Gaga collectively rocked all our socks off, during her Super Bowl half-time show, serving up a medley of her greatest hits. But the most memorable moment was when the ‘Bad Romance’ singer seemingly jumped from the funkin’ roof of Houston’s NRG Stadium, and flew down to the stage suspended by wires. It was EPIC AF.
Turns out, however, that the entire opening was pre-recorded. In fact Gaga was waiting on a beam the entire time, waiting to fly down. She was nowhere near as high as the roof. It was…a perfect illusion (heheh).
You can see here in this clip below, that Gaga comes down from a beam, rather than the roof.

The opening was actually pre-recorded back on 30 January. The jump wasn’t live for a multitude of reasons, including timing and the unpredictability of the weather. The Intel Drones general manager Natalie Cheung told USA Today:
“In February, you don’t know what it will be like during Super Bowl day. We’d hate to plan all this and, if the wind speeds are too high or if it’s raining and the roof is closed, no one can see this spectacular show,” she said.
“Lady Gaga also was on the roof when this was filmed, and from a logistics and creative perspective, it’s a bit hard for her to go from the roof all the way down to the floor of the stadium.”
It all makes sense, the success of the opener was pretty dependent on a bright night sky, for a clear view of the many glittering drones.
But tbh, who really cares?! The performance was definitely up there as one of the most spectacular Super Bowl half-time shows of recent memory.
Relive the performance in all its glory here.
