Already pegged as a career defining role for Natalie Portman as First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, we finally have our first full official trailer for Jackie.

Directed by filmmaker Pablo Larraín, the film gives an intimate glimpse of the hours and days in the wake of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination and chronicles Jackie’s struggles with grief and grappling with honoring JFK’s legacy.

The film gives a more introspective and personal version of events than typical Kennedy biopics, and has been getting rave reviews since it premiered throughout the festival circuit this year. With Portman already tipped for an Oscar for the role; her performance has been heralded as the best of her career.

The film also stars Billy Crudup, Peter Sarsgaard, Greta Gerwig, John Hurt, Richard E. Grant and John Carroll Lynch.

Jackie is expected to open in Australian theaters early next year.
