PSA: You Can Watch New ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ Direct From The US Tomorrow
Hey, time to stop watching Die Hard over and over and over again*! Brooklyn Nine-Nine is returning from its mid-season hiatus this week and SBS Viceland is fast-tracking it to Australia. The show’s fourth season will hit our screens tomorrow — just a couple of hours from the US premiere.
*Just joking, you should never stop watching Die Hard.
The past few months have been a tense wait for those who are up to date on the show, with a whole lot of questions left unanswered around Gina Linetti. If you are not up to date (maybe because Netflix Australia only have up to season three!), then don’t click that link because spoilers. Either way, this is very good news.
SBS has been doing pretty great in terms of getting their hands on US TV shows recently. Earlier this year they secured the first Australian rights to Donald Glover’s incredible Atlanta, and just this week they announced the Australian premiere of HBO’s highly meme-able drama The Young Pope. The latter will air from April 19.
Still, the delay on both those shows (five and three months respectively) is very frustrating in an environment where spoilers, memes and reactions hit Twitter an eternity before you can get in on the action. It’s good to see Australian distributors realise the future is all about fast-tracking.
Let’s celebrate by watching the premiere of Better Call Saul on Stan tonight and Brooklyn Nine-Nine tomorrow. The way it should be.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine is on SBS Viceland at 8pm Wednesday April 12, and will screen each week thereafter.
