WATCH: A Clue In The New International Star Wars ‘Rogue One’ Trailer Reveals A Big Story Clue

Star Wars have released a new international trailer for the upcoming ‘Rogue One’ movie, and as expected, people are analysing the hell out of it for clues.

The new Rogue One promo for international audiences is slightly different to the one revealed to audiences in the USA, during primetime of the country’s Olympic coverage.

As Chris Taylor at Mashable unveiled, the international trailer is altered in subtle but important ways. Lucasfilm is casually rewarding those of us paying attention with different scenes and one key new line of dialogue.

Apart from extra shots of the black-armored Death Troopers, it’s the subtle difference in the dialogue that has fans talking about a potential major story reveal.

Rather than a rebel leader asking if Jyn Erso can be trusted, we instead hear her mate Captain Cassian Andor mention an imminent “major weapons test” – which is clearly the Death Star – followed by “the message was sent by your father.”

Chris Taylor’s analysis on the tech site refreshes us – that we know Jyn Erso’s father is Galen Erso. It was also revealed by Rogue One director Gareth Edwards during the recent Lucasfilm Star Wars Celebration last month, that Galen is a senior scientist who once “invented something beautiful that could have changed the galaxy.”

(CUE THE SUSPENSE MUSIC!)

So despite Rebel leader Mon Mothma having no idea about the imminent threat of terror about to tear apart the Galaxy, it seems Galen Erso is well informed.

In the international version Mothma questions: “We need to know what it is”.

Taylor questions if Galen Erso’s “beautiful invention” is the Death Star’s energy weapon, and that the power can be used for both good and evil. We are desperate to find out.

As his analysis points out, it would make for a great narrative, giving Jyn the power to restore balance to her father’s wrong doings, while giving us plenty of nostalgic childhood flashbacks.

What is it with movies teasing us so far in advance these days? Just give us the movie and put our killer anticipation to rest plz!
