One Direction’s blondie bae Niall Horan was interviewed on The Project tonight, and the convo quickly shifted to Niall’s apparent  crush on Katy Perry.

The Irish singer was caught off guard when Carrie Bickmore played a soundbite from a recent interview, where Katy told Australia’s own radio duo Fitzy and Wippa that every time she saw Niall he would crack on to her. As she teased:

“He’s always trying to like get my number, to like maybe flirt with me.”

Katy went on to explain that she felt she was too old for him, saying, “I can babysit you. I’m like your mum”.

Niall was visibly taken aback, and had this to say to the pop singer:

“Katy: please stop being mean to me. She’s just finding any excuse now, to you know, patronise me and go around spreading rumours about me. I just want to be her friend,” he said.

“She’s talking like she’s 55 years old or something, she’s not that much older than me.”

It was pretty clear that he is defs thirsty for Katy. Niall actually first met the ‘Teenage Dream’ singer when he auditioned for X-Factor, so the two go way back, he did add that, “she[Katy] is one of my favourite people that I know”. Awww, sweet!
