Somebody once told me, the world is gonna roll me…if you clicked on this article, you probs know the rest far too well.

But ICYMI, in the last year or so, Smashmouth’s biggest hit (a.k.a their only hit) ‘Allstar’ has reached peak meme-ability. To the point, where you can’t scroll a newsfeed lately, without seeing Steve Harwell’s beautiful face (that’s the lead singer of Smashmouth, and yes I had to google that too).

The catchy song is notoriously made up of lyrics that are nothing more than non-nonsensical ramblings, that just happen to sorta rhyme.

But, what if we got it wrong all along?!?

The lyrics are actually ineffable words that speak to a much higher truth. Attempting to breakdown the complexities of the song, Aussie comedy team Collective Noun have created their own pseudo-TED Talk on the song’s profound meaning. Bonus: it’s funny/ clever/ charming and essential viewing.
