Donald Trump’s first interview post-election with 60 Minutes was a major ratings win, but it is also v spoofable. First to the pitch, late night talk host Stephen Colbert decided to kick off The Late Show with Stephen Colbert by releasing a faux interview with Trump, by splicing together bits and pieces of Trump’s original sit-down.

The talk show host took aim at the new POTUS’s close friendship with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, as he questioned Trump about a victory gift from Putin – a wooden horse.

He quizzed, “Have you thought about looking inside the horse to see if there is anything in it before you open the gates and bring it into American?” Colbert asked. To which Trump replied “No”.

He went on to ask about who would be in Trump’s administration, suggesting “Meatloaf’s less talented brother Casserole”, a “coffee can with googly eyes glued to it” and a pack of wild dogs. Tbh, these sound like better suggestions than newly appointed chief strategist and generally awful human Stephen Bannon.

It’s a lot of fun and an ace distraction from our current political climate, which makes my insides hurt.
