The new The Mummy trailer is finally on the loose, and it’s an action-packed taste, with a whole lotta Tom Cruise being well, Tom Cruise.

The 2017 spin on the well-worn The Mummy film franchise stars Cruise and Russell Crowe. Directed by Alex Kurtzman, the film takes place in contemporary times, unlike the previous films which were dated in the 1920s.

Most of the trailer is based on a plane – as the group attempt to transport a sarcophagus – but all we really see is Cruise running and with his brows furrowed, looking concerned. It’s basically Mission Impossible but with mummies and other Egyptian ghoulies.

At the trailer’s conclusion, Cruise wakes up in a morgue and shit gets cray-cray from there. As he must stop Sofia Boutella’s Princess Ahmanet from “claiming what she has been denied,” as Crowe’s Dr. Henry Jekyll ominously puts it.

It looks pretty full on and is a much more serious take on the franchise, when paralleled with the comparatively comical 1999-2008 The Mummy trilogy, starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz.

The Mummy reboot will be released on June 9, 2017.
