WATCH: Waleed Aly Surprisingly Defends Sonia Kruger, Calls For Forgiveness Over Fear
Waleed Aly has tonight on The Project finally addressed the comments made on The Today Show by host Sonia Kruger, calling for the Australian borders to be closed to Muslim people.
But instead of providing further fury at her words, Aly in a very moving ‘Something we should talk about’ actually defends her. He goes on to say he doesn’t want to encourage the outrage that has led to “horrendous personal attacks about Sonia in the last 24 hours”.
Aly called on people to try and understand Kruger’s fear and empathise with the motivation for her opinions. Defending the host he says:
“Sonia Kruger is not evil. She’s scared and she’s trying to make sense of the world.”
