The 10 Weirdest Beauty Trends Of 2018, Ranked
As we hit the tail end of 2018, we are looking back and ranking the year’s weirdest beauty trends and hoeeee boy, there’s been some real treasures.
From wacky eyebrows, to sleek wet hair, and faux freckles, there was a lot of experimentation this year. These are the kinds of edgy looks that totally work on a Kardashian or Rihanna, but when I try them I look like I’ve just emerged from a dewy swamp after being possessed by a glitter demon. A very big mood, indeed.
Without further adieu, here are 2018’s weirdest beauty trends, ranked!
#10. Rainbow Teeth
Surely no one thought this is a good idea but in October this became a very cooked trend.
#9. Bonkers Eyebrows
From feathered, angular, zig-zagged, plaited, this year was all about doing weird shit with one’s eyebrows for no obvious reason.
#8. Wet Look Hair
This is a perfect example of a look that when attempted by normies looks like a big ol’ greasy mess.
#7. Glitter Absolutely Everywhere
It seems every year people are applying more and more glitter to their faces and bodies. Beginning with glitter boobs which took off in festival season, lipstick is now incomplete without a glitter topper. I don’t hate it tbh.
#6. Yellow Blush
This trend that dropped in May is definitely a bit different. Serving The Simpsons realness.
#5. Holographic Hair
This is a bit more subtle than the rainbow hair trend which took over 2017, but it’s just as whimsical. I dig it.
#4. Nose Highlight
This was a massive year for highlighting one’s nose like Rudolph. It works best with minimal highlight everywhere else.
#3. Strobing Instead Of Contour
ICYMI, contouring is cancelled and it’s all about shaping your face with luminous highlighting.
#2. Faux Freckles
This is a makeup look we can all easily emulate so, therefore, I’m all for it.
#1. Ombre Stained Lips
Stop overlining and start inner-lining your lips ‘cos big lips are out and this Korean trend is so damn pretty.
