Yes, you read the title correctly. Outspoken weed supporter, Whoopi Goldberg is greening out and launching her own marijuana company for women that aims to relieve period pain and cramps.

The ‘Whoopi & Maya’ collection of balms, tincture, sipping chocolate and bath soak will be available only in California (for the time being) to people with medical marijuana cards. Apparently for local residents, these are pretty easy to get your mitts on.

Open about her desire to legalise the drug and sample the goods, Whoopi says she’s looking forward to the new venture. Overnight she told USA Today newspaper:

“I want to go nice and slow with this.

I don’t want this to be a joke to people. It’s not a joke to women.”

The 60-year-old star has teamed with Maya Elisabeth for the new range, who believes this thing is ripe for success. Elisabeth is the founder of another all-female Northern California edible marijuana company called Om Edibles, so this isn’t her first rodeo. Maya says women have been herbal healers for generations, and she doesn’t think their products are any different. Speaking about the new collaboration, Maya Elisabeth said: “I’m excited for people to feel comfortable using cannabis.”

Whoopi said smoking marijuana or drinking infused tea has helped ease her own cramps and pain, and she also uses a vape pen filled with marijuana oil to combat glaucoma headaches. Nice.

Goldberg is known for once admitting she was a ‘functioning addict’ and made headlines for claiming she was stoned off her face while accepting the Best Supporting Actress award for Ghost in 1991, see below:
