Living through these trying times (aka 2020 onwards) is enough to make anyone’s patience for people’s BS wane. And a recent thread on Reddit has women admitting what particularly irks them about some men.

The thread on r/AskReddit is asking: “Women of Reddit: What would you like all men to stop doing, immediately, as of right now?” We’ve collected some of the most relatable response, from women sick of being touched by men unnecessarily to ladies who are over some fellas thinking that having a skincare routine is women’s business.

Any women reading this will probably relate to almost every answer, and for the men reading this — please don’t take offence, but do take the responses into consideration. While obviously not all men behave like this, sadly all women have experienced these types of men.

Here are some things that women on Reddit want men to stop doing immediately:

(Some responses have been edited for clarity.)

“Seeing ‘Sorry, I’m not interested!’ as a challenge.”

– @limp-sundae5177

“There is NEVER any reason to touch my lower back when you walk past me. In fact, 99 times out of 100 you do not need to touch me at all to walk past me.”

– @thebrontosaurus

“I would like them to stop asking every time I am upset over something: is it that time of the month?”

– @amarismerla

“When I say I’m lesbian, I would love for them to stop saying ‘you just haven’t met the right guy yet’ or ‘I can change you if you give me one night with you’. It’s disgusting and makes me more of a lesbian, and no I will not give you proof that I am a lesbian for your own pornography fantasies.”

– @d3m0nkash1

“Treating the stuff they see on Pornhub as if it’s realistic. Internet porn is not sex-ed fellas, nor is it real life. Talk to your partner: communication is key to good sex for both partners.”

– @catls234

“Suggesting that women who have been sexually harassed or assaulted somehow misunderstood the situation.”

– @guacisextra27

“Not participating in household chores. Be an adult, it is your house as well. We are not your mammas.”

– @shadow_owner

“As the only woman in my team of six men, and actually the only woman in our small branch of about 20 men, I’d like to say this: stop looking at me as a sexual object before you look at me as a professional member of the workplace.”

– @luckysonic2

“Stop thinking that it’s feminine to have a skincare routine. Skin health is important!”

– @TOTBL

“Saying they are ‘An Alpha male.'”

– @kenxiecron

“Stop telling girls to smile. Shut. The. Fuck. Up.”

– @smokemethailsatan

“Assuming kindness is flirtation.”

– @theveryleastfavourite

“Obviously not all men, but I’ve known too many men in my life who neglect their own mental and physical health needs/concerns. I wish more men would seek out help for physical and mental health issues.

I can’t speak for what it’s like to be raised/socialised as male, so I’m not sure what personal or social conflicts men face about this. These things can be very expensive or challenging to access, which is an understandable barrier. From the perspective of being a partner and friend, it’s really hard seeing someone you love and care about do absolutely nothing while clearly suffering.”

– @talking-owl

“Some men assume that not calling women slurs is what makes them nice. That cannot be where the bar is. I’d like those men to stop pretending that’s the minimum.”
