Woolworths Shut Down Facebook Complaint With Social Media Gold
The customer is always right – right?
Well, not when they’re publicly lying through their teeth on your social media page.
Last week, Woolworths copped a complaint from a customer who was upset about buying rotten avocados from one of the supermarkets stores in the upmarket suburb of Double Bay. She-WAS-NOT-HAPPY and decided to make her complaint known by berating the brand on social media.
Taking to the page in the hope of stirring up a public relations nightmare that might get her some free shit, the woman wrote:
I purchased these avocados from your store at double bay yesterday, upon making a sandwich today i came to find these avocados are rotten! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE, I demand my money back!!!! and at your double bay store aswell! i expected more from you woolies. On top of that one of your employees gave me the biggest dirty look as i was self servicing, making a comment about my crocs, since when is it a crime to wear crocs??? this is Australia god dammit. From now on im shopping at aldi!!!!!
“Lets take a look at her claim in a bit more detail” thought the responsible social media manager in charge, who sensed something was a little fishy.
STRIKE ONE – she’s just told the world she was wearing Crocs and fails to see why somebody in the store might have a problem with that ?
STRIKE TWO – As someone on Reddit pointed out, “at your double bay store as well” seems to add an extra layer of snobbishness to this flagrant act of bullshitting.”
STRIKE THREE – THE PHOTO ISN’T EVEN ORIGINAL – SHE TOTALLY RIPPED IT OFF FROM ANOTHER COMPLAINT ON THE PAGE IN 2014… WHAT A DUFFER!
Thankfully, Woolworths – who actually resolved this prior complaint in 2014 – noticed her unimaginative plagiarism and wouldn’t let the shit fly.
They swiftly took to the comments to pull up the customer on her error of judgement:
As expected, everyone else got around the fact that the brand had caught the women in the act and banter ensued.
Bravo Woolies. Bravo.
