A brand spankin’ new true crime series is on its way – and it’s a series us Aussies don’t have to get a VPN or illegally pirate to actually view. Huzzah! Coming to Channel Nine in February, Murder Calls Australia is billing itself as a “raw and confronting crime series”.

The program will delve into the truth behind some of the most heinous murders committed in this country – through focusing on the phone calls that helped crack the case.

The series will be narrated by Leila McKinnon, and include some never-before-seen or heard phone calls from witnesses, the public, the perpetrators, and even from some victims, along with unearthed crime scene footage.

Giving insight into the minds of the murderers, episode one will follow the investigation into the murder of multi-millionaire Herman Rockefeller. The episode will shed light on the double life Rockefeller was hiding, through a series of phone calls captured from members of the public and those close to the rich businessman.

It’s set to be a super intriguing series, and will hopefully quench the thirst of true crime addicts across Oz, searching for their next case (until season two of Making a Murderer – wtf guys?!).

Murder Calls Australia premieres on Wednesday, February 15, at 8.40pm on Channel Nine.
