The second instalment of Zoolander 2 has been slammed by LGBTI activist for making a “cartoon mockery” of androgyne/trans/non-binary individuals.

It comes after the official trailer dropped last week, featuring a character played by real life lizard man himself, Benedict Cumberbatch.

Cumberbatch’s character, ‘All‘ is the cause for the petition which has already been signed by nearly 9,000 people who pledge not to see the new film when it’s released in February, 2016.

All is introduced as the “world’s biggest supermodel” which Hansel then clarifies, “I think he’s asking, do you have a hot dog or a bun”.

Sarah Rose, the creator of the petition, says that this character is the “modern equivalent of using black face to represent a minority.”

Rose also said filmmakers should have used a real trans/androgyne model, such as Andreja Pejic, in the film, saying:

“In the Zoolander 2 trailer, an androgynous character played by Benedict Cumberbatch is asked by Zoolander and Hansel if he is a ‘male or female model,’ and if they ‘have a hot dog or a bun.’ Additionally, Cumberbatch’s character is clearly portrayed as an over-the-top, cartoonish mockery of androgyne/trans/non-binary individuals.”

Andreja Pejic would should have been the obvious choice, considering she’s already nailed the perfect ‘blue steel’:
