I can’t recall a time before the 2010s when we were more consumed by makeup. Sure, I wasn’t alive in many of the earlier decades, but I can’t imagine women in the 1960s spending more than an hour on contour, painting on ombré brows, before completing a photo-ready cut crease.

The 2010s were something else: it was a time that will be most remembered for buying makeup in excess, feeling the urge to apply enough highlighter to stop traffic, and just soooo much liquid lipstick. Like seriously, I still have about 30 different shades of liquid lipstick I will never touch again.
