Brittany Hockley has officially addressed her “slut shamey” comments on Abbie Chatfield, but it appears she hasn’t directly apologised to Abbie yet.

In a time where you’d think women would be supporting women, Brittany Hockley – alongside Kyle Sandilands – has been called out by her fellow Bachy alum, Abbie Chatfield, for some pretty concerning comments she made in an interview with US rapper, Yung Gravy.

A lot has happened since Abbie put the radio hosts on blast, so we broke down everything you need to know about the controversy:

 The interview with Yung Gravy

Brittany Hockley, who hosts Life Uncut, has recently been filling in for Jackie O on The Kyle And Jackie O Show.

In November, Brittany and Kyle were joined by Yung Gravy, a famous American rapper who is most known for his song ‘Betty (Get Money)’.

Within the interview, Yung Gravy revealed that he had a “relationship beginning” with Abbie. In response to this revelation, Kyle said, “Line up.”

Yung Gravy also told Kyle and Brittany that he “got a date planned” with the Masked Singer judge, and Brittany interjected, saying, “I have no doubt.”

Abbie responds via her podcast

Although it had been a month since the interview aired on KIIS106.5, Abbie addressed the interview on the It’s A Lot podcast, calling both Kyle and Brittany out for their “slut shamey” comments.

“Kyle is starting all this tone but (for Brittany) to go along with the tone because you have nothing more, sorry, nothing funny to say but, like, slut shame and say, ‘I have no doubt you’re going on a date with her,’ ” Abbie said.

After the episode dropped, Abbie posted a few Instagram stories calling out “pick me girls”, like Brittany, who was compliant with Kyle’s problematic comments.

“Pick me’s are only focused on upholding patriarchal structures and laughing along with the boys, or with those who love being a part of the patriarchy who laugh at locker room talk…Pick me’s and people who say this shit are a huge part of the problem,” Abbie said.

Abbie also revealed that she has DM’d Brittany and attempted to give her a chance to explain herself but she never responded.

“She hasn’t responded…We’ve DM’d before, so she doesn’t give a shit.”

Brittany posts her statement

In response to Abbie’s podcast and her Instagram stories, Brittany posted a two-slide Instagram statement addressing the interview.

“Firstly, I want to apologise for the undercurrent misogynistic tones that the interview had,” Brittany wrote. “The nature of live radio is unpredictable and often unplanned, which was the case with the direction that this conversation took.”

Brittany also shared why she never replied to Abbie’s DMs, despite Abbie claiming that they’ve spoken via direct message before.

“Secondly, much has been said that Abbie reached out to me nine days ago to discuss this via message. I was never notified that Abbie had reached out to me as I had muted notifications given the overwhelming volume of messages I receive each day,” Brittany wrote. “I have since reached out.”

Abbie replies to Brittany’s statement

Soon after Brittany had publicly addressed Abbie’s concerns, Abbie took to her personal Instagram to reply.

Abbie first took aim at the first half of Brittany’s statement, writing, “Sorry, but your internalised misogyny and insecurities (which resulted in your misogynistic comments) are the reason you felt ‘pitted’ against me.”

Abbie then wrote that Brittany shouldn’t have blamed the circumstances of live radio, writing, “Don’t blame the segment and live radio. Again, if you can’t hold your own in that environment, maybe it isn’t for you.” Ouch.

The podcast star went on to drag Brittany’s statement for its lack of apology. “I don’t see an apology to me,” Abbie wrote. “I just see an excuse of live radio, then a self written character testimony, then a (tbh) fair reason why she didn’t see my DM, [even] though we have messaged before. Britt hasn’t apologised to me, FYI.”

Abbie closed her Instagram response saying that she will not be accepting Brittany’s apology writing, “P.s don’t tell me to accept an apology that I don’t think fixes anything or educated her audience at the very least.”

According to The Brag, Yung Gravy thought his interview with Brittany and Kyle was “kinda wack.”

Brittany has yet to respond to Abbie’s Instagram stories, but hopefully the two can sort it out soon.

OFC Kyle is radio silent on the matter, but are we really surprised?
