Ariana Grande Has Finally Spoken About Hooking Up With Ethan Slater

I don’t know about you, but my Instagram feed is filled with mushy statements, recap videos and highlight reels of the year that was. I guess we’re all getting nostalgic for 2023 as we burst into the mayhem that will be 2024, but one post I wasn’t expecting to see was from Ariana Grande.

You see, since she ended her marriage, paused her music career and shacked up with a famous (and married) Spongebob Squarepants, Ariana has been a little quiet on socials.

But now that it’s been a fair few months since the rumours of her and Ethan Slater’s relationship started to bubble, it seems she’s back and ready for a chat on Instagram. Here’s what she posted on her now-expired Instagram Story:

While Ariana is obviously touching on a fair few things in this post, I can’t help but see certain points screaming out in response to the Ethan situation. In particular, this little snippet:

“I have never felt more pride or joy or love while simultaneously feeling so deeply misunderstood by people who don’t know me, who piece whispers together and make what they want out of me and their assumptions of my life. I have learned how much more important one of those things is than the other.”

ICYMI, Ariana and Ethan getting together pissed off a lot of people – obviously Ethan’s ex-wife and the mother of his children, Lily James, sits right at the top of this list. But a fair few of Ariana’s fans also seemed disappointed in the choice that Ariana had made to be with Ethan. The reactions must have been a brutal pill for Ariana to swallow, especially as she hadn’t really received this sort of backlash before – particularly from her own fans.

It should be noted that in this statement Ariana also refers to Galinda and shares a line drawing of the ‘Good Witch’ in the background of the post. This is the role that Ariana is playing in the upcoming movie adaptation of the musical Wickedand yes, she first met Ethan on the set of Wicked as he’s playing Boq in the movie. So I’m jotting this down as another reference to Ariana and Ethan’s romance.

Hopefully, now Ariana is back ‘online’ (and back in the studio recording her next album), we’ll get some more insights into how her personal life is looking and what she really thinks about the response.

Until then, I’m turning on notifications for Ariana.
