‘Australian Survivor’ Fans Are Hooting And Hollering Over Last Night’s Blindside

Australian Survivor just keeps getting better and better.

Following a truly life-changing tribal council on Sunday night, the episode last night served up another iconic blindside courtesy of the two-thirds of the Spice Girls alliance, George and Shonee.

But I’m getting ahead of myself, let’s backtrack for a quick minute. On Tuesday’s episode, the tribes had to drop their buffs and were randomly allocated to new tribes. The alpha males all ended up in the Villains tribe, much to the delight of Simon who landed alongside them, and much to the annoyance of remaining Villain Jordie who is on the outs since Sunday’s tribal.

The Spice Girls alliance — George, Shonee, and Liz — were split up, as sadly, Liz stayed in the Villains, while Baby Spice and Scary Spice (aka Shonee and George) shifted over to the Heroes. But their alliance held strong, as when George won a feast reward during the auction, he shared it with his fellow Spices.

It was during their charcuterie feast that Shonee unearthed an idol, which she agreed to use to save whichever Spice Girl needed it the most. However, Survivor fans know that Shonee actually already has an idol of her own that she’s keeping secret — this queen has idols to spare.

During the immunity challenge, the Heroes faced one of their first defeats, as the power balance has shifted to the Villains tribe which is now stacked with challenge beasts like Shaun and David, along with strategic minds Hayley and Nina.

After the Heroes lost the challenge, some of the members of the ‘meat tray’ (aka the alpha boys) told Paige she should target George at tribal. She followed those orders and back at camp, she rallied to boot out George by ordering her alliance to do as she said. This is something she’s increasingly doing A LOT, and tbh, I’m not a big fan.

But there were two factors Paige didn’t consider: Shonee had an idol, and Gerry was no longer loyal to the Heroes after they literally sent him to the Villains tribe last week with zero certainty he’d return.

And because this show is pure poetic justice in motion, George and Shonee — fully aware they had all the power with Stevie and Gerry on their side — decided it was Paige’s time to go. They did so in possibly the funniest conversation ever aired on Survivor.

These two superstars! I can’t even contain my love for everything they say/do.

For any Paige apologists out there, I’m just going to leave this here…

This season really playing fast and loose with the term “hero”, huh.

Back to tribal council, Paige put on quite the show whispering to her alliance that they were sticking with the plan to boot out George. I’m not sure what her strategy was here, but all it did was make it crystal clear that Shonee and George were in the minority and therefore, they needed to do something drastic to save themselves.

After the votes were cast, Shonee whipped out her idol and revealed she would play it to protect George. The look on Paige’s face: priceless.

Paige, Flick, Benjamin, and Matt had piled all their votes on George, while Shonee, George, Stevie, and Gerry (who flipped on his alliance) all targeted Paige. As the Heroes OGs didn’t cast any backup votes, Paige was sent packing.

If this wasn’t delicious enough, Shonee served up one hell of an exit line, as she quipped to Flick afterwards that she had played her idol because of all the whispering. “Not my first rodeo,” she teased. WE DON’T DESERVE HER.

This year’s Australian Survivor is proving to be electrifying viewing. From the big moves to the comedic moments, I’ve never been more invested in a season of this show.

And me thinks it’s time to start manifesting for the Spice Girls to reunite asap.

Spice Girls supremacy!

Australian Survivor returns Sunday night at 7:30pm on Channel 10 and 10Play.
