Brooke Blurton Gets Real About Her ‘Bachelorette’ Experience In Her New Poddy
Reality TV star Brooke Blurton has gotten extremely candid about her time on The Bachelorette on the first episode of her new podcast Not So PG with her co-host, Matty Mills.
Not too long ago, the First Nations queer icons revealed that they would be starting a podcast dedicated to hot goss, relationships, hot takes, and more. The duo recently released their first episode, titled ‘Pls No DMs Asking Me To Work For Free During NAIDOC Week’, and Brooke has spilled some tea about her experience on The Bachelorette.

The besties revealed that Abbie Chatfield wasn’t initially supposed to appear in the finale episode where Brooke needed help to decide between her final two. It was her cohost Matty who was originally slated to step up and suss out the potential suitors for the Bachelorette, however COVID made things way too difficult.
“I was so excited to help you make that decision and you know, I would’ve had your best interest at heart,” Matty said.
“I, unfortunately, couldn’t make it because of COVID. It shut the world down, it shut my suburb down and a day before, they told me I wouldn’t be able to come to set and help you choose. I was heartbroken.”
Despite being disappointed that Matty couldn’t make it, Brooke made it very clear that she’s not unhappy with Abbie’s presence on the show.
“It’s no disrespect to Abbie, she was great on it,” the Bachy star said. “I wanted Matty because… you’re so good at giving good advice, you’re good at playing devil’s advocate.”

Brooke went on to say that Abbie and her other guest Amy Thunig were “beautiful” and “great” on The Bachelorette. The hosts also spoke about how Matty’s appearance on the popular reality TV dating show would’ve been a pinnacle moment for Indigenous and queer representation in mainstream media.
“I will say it would’ve been an incredible moment to have three Indigenous people on mainstream TV, you know within the franchise of The Bachelorette… All queer as well, and obviously no diss to Abbie,” Matty said. The hosts also discussed Amy’s time on the show and all the “incredible” press that she got after the episode aired.

Abbie and Brooke had some beef last year, after Abbie began dating one of Brooke’s suitors, Konrad Bien-Stephens, and to add salt to the wound, she announced the relationship before The Bachelorette finale. Brooke then accused Abbie of ‘tainting’ her moment, leading to Abbie issuing an apology on Instagram.

After that hot mess, there was a bit of back and forth, but the beef was put to rest after Brooke refollowed the radio host on Instagram. Brooke came out in support of Abbie last month after she shared her story of having an abortion in her early twenties, which is an experience Brooke says she also went through recently.
We’re hoping this latest Bachy tea won’t start any further dramas, because Brooke is just keeping it real! It was really nice to hear Brooke and Matt’s side on what happens behind the scenes, and how COVID impacted everything.
Overall, despite the disappointment of Matt not being present for Brooke’s season, the star does not regret her The Bachelorette journey.
“My experience, I cannot fault. I have lifelong friends out of that experience. I had the most craziest time but also equally the best time…I was able to showcase queer love, what that represented, and a bit of First Nations culture in there with the Welcome To Country. It was a surreal moment,” Brooke said.
