Bachelorette Brooke Has Finally Revealed Why She Broke Up With Darvid
Brooke Blurton has broken her silence over why she split with The Bachelorette winner Darvid Garayeli, posting a long statement on Instagram overnight.
Darvid broke the news on New Year’s Day, writing “Unfortunately Brooke and I have parted ways. Whilst we both genuinely thought we were each other’s person, things change and that’s okay.” Brooke posted a follow-up statement later that day, writing that while the couple had broken up, Darvid’s post was a “surprise to wake up to”.
Almost two weeks since the posts, Brooke has now spoken further about why they split. First up, Brooke discussed the fact that Darvid did not coordinate the breakup announcement with her, which is standard practice with Bachy splits. “In an ideal world, I would have preferred to have a mutual agreement and/or had a say in when/how we express that to the public but instead woke to that news which obviously kind of shocked me,” she wrote in an Instagram Story. “But Darvid had every right to make that decision, his platform, he can choose that for himself. I’d say it’s better to rip the bandaid off.”
As for why they broke up in the first place, Brooke confirmed she was the one who initiated the split. “I’ll be the first to say it was my choice to end the relationship and I had been thinking about it for a bit towards the end,” she wrote. “My reasons for that are completely valid to me. I had been unhappy for a bit and it wasn’t just solely because of the relationship.”

Addressing Darvid uprooting his lif and selling his Brisbane home to move in with Brooke in Melbourne, she wrote “I have a lot of respect for Darvid and what he gave up for me to be IN the relationship but it seems that we both lost ourselves along the way.”
Ultimately, Brooke said the pressure they were both under in the weeks following the finale combined with Brooke having to process her sister’s tragic passing in August was their undoing. “At the start of the show, I was the best version of myself and when the show ended and my sister died. I became my worst and saddest. I definitely put my heart and soul into the show and to represent myself, my family and the minority groups that I represent, solely with the upmost (sic) integrity, respect and love,” she said, adding “But the person who I forgot to love the most amongst that, was myself.”
Brooke has rejected any rumours that their split came after one of them cheated on the other. “No infidelity, no hate, just a pressure cooker,” Blurton wrote. “I love Darvid and he has a good heart but unfortunately we ended up being two different people who wanted different things and that’s just that.”
She confirmed that despite Darvid blindsiding her with his announcement of their split, they are now on good terms. “We’re as amicable as you can be during a healing process. I still love him dearly and have no regrets choosing him. I just wish the world was a little bit more gentle on us in the time we had.”
On Friday morning, Brooke posted another Instagram Story responding to some online critics who accused her of being petty for confirming she broke up with Darvid. Brooke replied, “How can you get away with being completely ignorant to people/someone you have no idea about?????”
