It’s All Over: The Bachelorette’s Brooke And Darvid Have Broken Up
Less than two months after The Bachelorette finale, Brooke Blurton and Darvid Garayeli have decided to go their seperate ways.
Australia watched Brooke and Darvid fall in love through The Bachelorette‘s most ground-breaking season, where both men and women were cast for the first time in the franchises’ history, and Brooke became the series’ first queer and First Nations lead.
Darvid broke the news of the couple’s split on Instagram on Sunday, January 2, posting an Instagram story explaining that the two had ‘parted ways’.
“Starting the new year off with an end to a chapter and hopefully the beginning of another. Unfortunately Brooke and I have parted ways. Whilst we both genuinely thought we were each others person, things change and that’s okay. Please respect our privacy and that at the end of the day we are both just people with real feelings. Thank you so much for being considerate, alot of lessons learned,” he wrote.
UPDATE: Brooke has since commented on Instagram, calling Darvid’s Instagram post a “surprise” to wake up to.
“It was definitely agreed to part ways, I just wanted to do it privately, amicably and respectfully,” Brooke said.
While Brooke is yet to comment on the breakup, she posted an Instagram Story for her birthday, which falls on January 1.
“I’ve had by far the best birthday in a very long time thanks to loved ones and some very special people. So I just wanted to thank everyone for those who have been on this wild ride of 2021 with me and enjoyed the ride that it’s been. I’ve loved, learnt, hurt and lived this year for sure,” she posted on her Instagram.
“I can’t wait for 2022 and the start that it has in store for me, for us, for my family, for my mob. You guys are always the real OG’s, VIP, MVP’s in my eyes. Here’s to another year of craziness, queerness and happiness.”
The breakup has come as a huge shock to Bachelorette fans, who watched Brooke and Darvid move in together in Melbourne — after Darvid’s potential relocation from Brisbane was an issue for his mum during hometown visits.
Brooke Blurton’s Bachelorette finale broke the franchises’ conventions with her declaring her love for Darvid to-camera before the final rose ceremony, during which she told Darvid: “From the moment I met you, I felt a lot of feelings, I felt calm, I felt trusting, I felt an instant connection and chemistry. Darvid, I don’t know how to say this but, you came in here and you granted me three wishes and I still have one left. Will you make me happiest girl?”
Here’s hoping 2022 brings nothing but good things for Brooke.
