After what feels like a decade, a full-length Barbie trailer dropped while we were all catching some zzz’s over in Australia. Unlike the teaser trailer, this clip actually gives a little insight into what the movie is about, and the big names we can expect to grace our screens.

While there’s no doubt that Margot Robbie is the queen of the hotly-anticipated Barbie movie, a scene from the brand new trailer that shows Kens, Ryan Gosling and Simu Liu, threatening to “beach off” each other has stolen the show.

Watch the Barbie trailer and we’ll discuss below:

Warner Bros. managed to pack a host of A-list actors and actresses into the trailer, but it was the implied narrative in the final scene between Ryan Gosling and Simu Liu, who both play Kens in the film, that conjured up some x-rated mental images.

In the clip, an angry Gosling tells Liu that if he wasn’t injured he’d “beach” Liu off. “I would beach you off any day,” Liu fires off in reply.

The two Ken dolls then engage in a heated battle about who is going to “beach” each other off first before Margot Robbie’s Barbie interjects and tells the men dolls that “nobody is going to beach anyone off”.

The mind does wander, and we’re not not suggesting that the “beach off” battle could possibly be referring to anything other than a competitive game of beach volleyball.

Considering that the movie is directed by the critically acclaimed Greta Gerwig, it should come as little surprise that the aforementioned scene is just one of many hilarious teaser moments in the new trailer.

Other commendable mentions should be given to Margot Robbie’s perfectly arched Barbie feet in the first few moments, Will Ferrell’s strangely enjoyable face when he first lays eyes on Barbie, and of course, Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie’s conversation about what they should do at a girlfriend/boyfriend sleepover.

It would be remiss of me not to mention the insanely stacked cast that will appear in the blockbuster. Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Will Ferrell, and Simu Liu will be joined by America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Michael Cera, Dua Lipa, and Helen Mirren, as well as a bunch of other huge names.

Without even giving away much of the storyline, the impressive trailer has sparked pandemonium online that’s sure to have every millennial mother and their daughter queuing up for tickets to the film this July.

Barbie premieres in cinemas on 21 July, 2023.
