There’s nothing better than hot chips. This is a huge, sweeping statement but I stand by it.

Hot chips are always there for you. Hot chips would never lie to you. Hot chips would never cheat on you. Hot chips would never leave you on read.

Sadly, from time to time there is such thing as an average hot chip, but even then it’s quick to forgive. But let’s be honest with ourselves. We all want to find THE perfect hot chip. The kinda chip that is both crunchy, and fluffy, and perfectly salted (chicken salt, of course). And thankfully for those of us who reside in Sydney, one guy has made it his mission to do exactly that.

Introducing, Hot Chip Guy, one pure soul who’s going around Sydney ranking hot chips and letting us know where to get the perfect chippy. Warning, his Instagram will make you IMMEDIATELY want to go out and buy some hot chips.

Forget Macca’s and KFC. Hot Chip Guy has gone through and brought us some other gems from around Sydney, rating the crispy/soggy ratio, the salt level, value, and giving an overall score so you can make an informed judgement next time you jump on the hot chip train.

So far the top three has been stated as The Old Fitz pub in Woolloomooloo, Clem’s Chicken Shop in Newtown, and the best in the west themselves, El Jannah.

As far as franchise-based stores go, Nando’s got a shoutout for being consistently good.

Huge respect to Hot Chip Guy for doing the research we’ve all been secretly begging for.
