If you’ve ever wondered if it’s worth testing out an experimental TikTok hack on your own body, let this be a sign to step away from the app. Big Brother’s Tilly Whitfeld has revealed pics of the disastrous results she was left with after trying to give herself freckles, by using a technique she saw on TikTok.

This risky and often dangerous treatment involves using brown ink applied with a goddamn sewing needle (!) that’s supposed to imitate the look of natural freckles. Yep, it’s just as cooked as it sounds.

Over the weekend, Tilly posted on Instagram about her experience trying the hack writing: “About nine months ago before the show, I tattooed my own freckles on my face with eBay faux ink and a few sewing needles stuck together with sticky tape after seeing it on TikTok.”

“Fake ink has high levels of lead in it so when it’s lasered it turns frickin black… After thousands of $$ worth of experimentation, all the ink is out of my dodgy fake freckles and all that’s left is pigmentation scars from the needles.”

On her Instagram Story, Tilly shared that right before entering the Big Brother house, her face was still swollen.

Last month, the Big Brother star posted for the first time about her experience trying to remove the ink from her skin and fade the burn marks, which were left across her face after the risky treatment. She revealed that the reason she is often seen in the house with either a “blue clay face mask” or wearing thick makeup so that her “skin is always covered” is to cover up the scars.

Thankfully, Tilly has seen some improvements in her skin. She revealed in a recent post that a “dermatologist suggested hydroquinone AND OMG it is helping soooo much”.

Tilly’s story is an important warning against the dangers of beauty treatments promoted on the internet that aren’t endorsed by medical professional. “Please please don’t try any ‘DIY’ or ‘at home’ beauty procedures,” she wrote.

“I ended up in hospital with temporary loss of vision in my eye due to swelling and was very sick from the infection, not to mention my face was somewhat unrecognisable. Leave it to the professionals.”
