Tim & Estelle From ‘Big Brother’ Are Beefing Online & It’s Getting Real Ugly
This year’s Big Brother has seen an interesting dynamic play out online, with some of the most iconic housemates live-tweeting their thoughts to their thousands of followers to offer clarifications and explanations on what viewers are and aren’t seeing.
This side of Big Brother did not exist when the OGs originally played the game, as the show was aired live therefore housemates could not meddle in how they were being portrayed. While it’s interesting to learn what was edited out, this also means that some housemates might clash over their version of the events that transpired in the house.
This leads us to Estelle Landy, a Big Brother royal who found herself increasingly clashing with 2013 housemate Anthony Drew and former winner Tim Dormer on this week’s episodes.
Overnight, Estelle took to Twitter to address why she didn’t get along with Drew, also alleging that she thought both Drew and Tim treated herself and Tully Smyth as their ‘punching bags’ while in the house.
In the thread, Estelle went on to claim that there was a feud between Drew and Lulu Oliveira, which is something that viewers never saw play out. Lulu retweeted Estelle’s tweet, and it’s worth noting that the ex-housemate had previously alleged that Drew had once called her a “bitch” during a challenge.
But wait, there is more! Tim entered the chat and oh boy, he truly said the most tone-deaf thing imaginable.
Yep. Tim compared Estelle’s claims about himself and Drew to errr… Amber Heard. For those who have seriously been living in some type of hibernation, Heard recently lost a defamation lawsuit filed by her former husband Johnny Depp, with Depp awarded $10 million in compensatory damages. The verdict comes after Depp had previously lost a 2020 UK libel lawsuit against the Sun newspaper over a headline describing the actor as a “wife beater”.
This whole case is obviously extremely complex and nuanced — something missing for most of the online discussion about it — so for a reality star to randomly name-drop Heard, and trivialise domestic violence, just to prove a point is straight-up cooked.
People on Twitter were baffled by Tim’s choice of comparison, but he doubled down on his claims that Estelle was unfairly characterising his and Drew’s behaviour.
Tim even tweeted that Estelle claiming she was targeted by himself and Drew, was part of a pattern started on her season of Big Brother. Tim noted that “Ben Norris will let you know,” suggesting that 2012 winner Ben had experienced something similar. During Estelle’s first season she became the most nominated housemate and 2012 runner-up Layla Subritzky claimed that Estelle said she was “bullied” on the season.
We’ve reached out to Ben regarding Tim’s claims but he declined to comment.
Estelle has since tweeted a rather cryptic tweet about her “real life relationships” outside of the house.
With another episode dropping tonight, it’s likely that this beef is far from over.
