If you’re anything like us over here at Punkee, as soon as Netflix’s new reality show Byron Baes dropped, you binge-watched it IMMEDIATELY.

The Australian docu-soap follows the lives of numerous influencers as they navigate life in idyllic Byron Bay and features everything from love triangles, to sound healing parties, art shows, and fake tan launches.

The eight-episode series focuses heavily on Sarah, also known by her stage name St. James, as she struggles to form genuine friendships in Byron Bay after uprooting her life from the Gold Coast.

At the start, it seems as if Sarah is about to be embroiled in a big love triangle featuring Nathan Favro and Elias Chigros, but her connection with Nathan wins out and the two date throughout the series even though Nathan’s housemate Elle Watson is clashing with Sarah and badmouthing her to others.

The show features another newcomer to Byron, influencer Jade Kevin Foster, also hailing from the Goldie. Jade’s journey into Byron is a lot different: he’s warmly accepted, makes fast friendships, and serves us some absolute drama in episode three after he pops off at talent manager Alex Reid.

In a recent episode of Punkee’s podcast Reality Tea, we chatted with Nathan and Jade about their time on the show, and boy oh boy, did those two spill some tea with us: from Jade’s fight with Alex to what really went down with Nathan, Elle, and Sarah.

“Elias was trying to take her out on a date, and I was giving her that space to do that,” Nathan said on the confusing start of his romance with Sarah. “She was new in Byron, I was like ‘hey I’ll give you the space, I want to take you somewhere nice and show you around town,’ and we did do that, but also I don’t want to smother you [Sarah]. I made the initial effort to go out of my way and make her feel welcome in Byron.”

And on Elle?

“I’m just going to go in and say it. The day after, straight after we finished filming she was like ‘hey I want to take you for dinner’. So we go for dinner and she was like, ‘hey I just want you to know I do like you, but I’m not going to do anything about it’,” Nathan said.

Are Stav and Elle still together? Well, we may need Season 2 of Byron Baes to figure out how that all went down.
