All the best celebrity Halloween costumes so far, reviewed by me
Forget the Oscars, Grammys and People’s Choice Awards. The only way to truly assert your celebrity dominance and “win” pop culture is by absolutely nailing Halloween.
Spooky season has always been one of the funnest times of the year, but with the rise of social media (and the Halloween photoshoot), celebrities have lifted their game and see it as their mission to serve silly, scary and sexy lewks to the online masses.
Here are some of the best costumes we’ve seen so far:
Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco Halloween costume
Making their big Halloween couple’s costume debut (a huge milestone in any modern relationship), lovebirds Selena and Benny dressed as Alice and the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland. An absolute classic. Selena looks surprisingly great as a blonde and whatever Benny is doing, it’s working (I’m terrified).
Lizzo Halloween costume
Girlfriend loves a costume, and this year, the singer absolutely leaned in with this tongue-in-cheek reference to the weight loss rhetoric that’s followed her in 2024. For context, in May, cursed cartoon South Park made a joke about Lizzo being an alternative to expensive weight-loss drugs.
“FDA-approved Lizzo makes you feel good about your weight, and it costs 90% less than Ozempic. In case studies, 70% of patients on Lizzo no longer cared how much they weighed. Lizzo helps you eat everything you want and keep physical activity to a minimum,” joked the show in a mock commercial.
“Need self love? Try Lizzo. Lose guilt, gain confidence,” says the text in Lizzo’s Halloween post, as she stands dressed in weight-loss drug costume. You rewrite that narrative, hun!
Sophie Turner Halloween costume
Sophie Turner (who recently went insta-offish with her new hot boyfriend post-Joe Jonas divorce), went for the sexy option this year. Donning a tight black latex jumpsuit, gloves and tiny black glasses, the English actress transformed into Trinity from The Matrix and no one’s ever looked hotter.
Ice Spice Halloween costume
Sticking with the sci-fi, badass hotties category, we have Ice Spice dressed as LeeLoo from The Fifth Element. The rapper posted a series of pictures to her Instagram of herself in costume at a convenience store, a restaurant, a party and back home, because every good costume deserves multiple backdrop/photo opportunities.
Anne Hathaway Halloween costume
Well, points for creativity. This year, the actress dressed as “Boo York City”, wearing zombie makeup and a Statue of Liberty headpiece. Good for her.
Benny Drama, Jake Shane and Terrence O’Connor Halloween costume
Ok this one’s for those sitting in the centre of the chronically-online, pop music Venn diagram (hi).
Power-couple Benny (actor and comedian known for his hilarious Kardashian spoofs) and Terrence O’Connor (Charli XCX’s bestie and creative director) teamed up with Jake Shane (TikTok star and host of the wildly popular podcast, Therapuss) to pay homage to 2024’s holy trinity of pop: Charli XCX, Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter.
Absolutely NO notes here.
Courtney Act Halloween costume
One of Australia’s most beloved drag performers gagged us all by transforming into AFL hottie Bailey Smith. “If you’re not familiar with @bazlenka – you’re welcome. He’s every gay man’s favourite AFL player (he’s also the only AFL player gay men know),” Courtney captioned the post. This is the only connection I feel to sports.
Okay, now it’s time for me to get a little spooky.
MY PREDICTIONS FOR THE NEXT 72 HOURS:
The Biebers will DEFINITELY debut a family photo. Little Jack’s face won’t be featured, but it’ll be some cute little costumed photoshoot where we ooh and ahh over the family.
The KarJenners will post multiple hot but boring photoshoots. The kids will be involved and at least one of the sisters will try to do something funny and relevant in an attempt to prove they have a sense of humour (I’m looking at you, Kendall “dressed as a cucumber” Jenner) but I’ll be bored.
And I feel it in my hoofs that Katy Perry will dress as sexy Moo Deng.
Happy Halloween, friends!
