Whether it be cooking or DIY, if you need to do something, TikTok has found a way to do it more efficiently. But, when it comes to saving money, I am always on the hunt for tips. As a result, I’ve ended up on #CheapTok, a sector of TikTok, created by Jay & Sharon, aimed at providing life hacks to others that are struggling. 

Are these tips actually helpful? It’s really up to you to decide. Let’s go through some of their more viral posts to see if we can pull hacks out of them.

In Jay & Sharon’s first #CheapTok video, they pitch the idea that you can return a Christmas tree after Christmas to get your money back. And sure, while you can do this, I feel that you’re better off putting the tree in storage so that you can use it again next year?

For this hack, Jay becomes his own Uber Eats driver. This way, Jay can order food for home delivery, but he is the one that actually gets paid to pick it up. Now, this may seem like a clever hack on the surface, but in actuality, he’s the one that is paying himself. Right? Right?!?!

Aussie summer heat got your garden dry and desperate for water? Well, CheapTok’s hack is to throw a spitting competition for your neighbours. Yeah, makes for a viral video but I definitely wouldn’t recommend this one.
