When I heard that Christina freaking Aguilera was coming back to Australia for the first time in 15 years, I squealed. She’s missed a lot while she’s been away – we’ve had around 72 new Prime Ministers, La Ninã’s been to visit, we hosted World Pride, we crowned the wrong winner of Australia’s Next Top Model, and birthed a whole new formation of The Wiggles. 

So it’s fair to say we have much to catch up on when you’re in town, Xtina. But before we get into all that, I’m going to have to address the sparkly elephant in the room: your handbag. 

See, Christina was recently papped carrying what I thought was just a Menulog food delivery bag. The first thing that came to mind was ‘what a humble, relatable queen, carrying her own snacks!’ Then I took a closer look. This wasn’t any old brown paper bag. This was leather. This was diamanté encrusted. This was designer, baby.

Of course, the creator of my fave noughties bop (‘Dirrty’, obviously) would only wear the bougiest of bags; it makes total sense that she upgraded her Menulog delivery bag to this masterpiece. Only the woman behind the lyrics, “You got soul, you got class, you got style, you’re badass”, would pull a stunt like this.

It seems that someone got in touch with Aussie designer By Weave to create the fancypants bag and the detail in this creation is next level. And by that I mean tiny gold avocados are lining this handbag. TINY GOLD AVOCADOS.

I was keen before, but now that I’ve seen the intricacies of this handbag, I’m beyond thankful Menulog is offering me a way to get my hands on this masterpiece. If it wasn’t for this competition, I’d have to seriously consider one of the following:

  • Work on an elaborate scheme where I train as an executive assistant to the stars and eventually land the gig as Christina’s EA where over a four year period we become close enough as working professionals that one Christmas she gifts me the Menulog bag as a thank you for my hard work and dedication. 
  • Cash in all my savings and commission By Weave to create my own Menulog bag, with some extra golden avocados thrown in for good measure. Because if you’re going to spend all the money you have, you might as well.
  • Become a world-famous popstar, climbing up the charts and singing at the Superbowl, so I too can score my own deal with Menulog.
