20 Memes About Netflix’s ‘Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga’
The cancellation of Eurovision Song Contest this year (along with basically every other large-scale event) hit fans hard, but a new Netflix comedy has arrived at the perfect time to fill the europop hole in our hearts.
Starring Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams, Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga tells the story of two Icelandic singers, Lars and Sigrit, whose dream of entering Eurovision finally comes true. It shouldn’t work as movie, but — believe me — it truly does.
The film is charming, hilariously camp and actually includes some solid songs. ‘Jaja Ding Dong’ is a genuine bop. ‘Double Trouble’ could compete with the best of them. And the final number, ‘Husavik’, is a legit Eurovision contender, like it’s a straight-up power ballad.
The movie is currently charting in the top ten on Australian Netflix, it’s even placed higher than sexfest 365 Days which is an impressive feat in itself. As with any Netflix phenomenon, the amount of memes being posted online since the movie dropped are (as ‘Jaja Ding Dong’s lyrics would say) growing wide and long.

The most ridiculous thing about #EurovisionMovie is how perfect Rachel McAdams is in it: she’s actually perfect; she’s “an ABBA song at closing time” perfect. She’s Icelandic for perfect.
