– FILMS TURNING 20 –

Independence Day (1996)

Totally appropriate that this film is getting some kind of remake-sequel coming around the time of it’s 20th birthday. A great gift, if you ask me. Starring Will Smith leading a brilliant cast including Jeff Goldblum and directed by Roland Emmerich.

Fargo (1996)

One of my favourite charming yet extremely violent films. There’s currently a TV series remake running that is in it’s second season. My recommendation? See the film first. Starring the brilliantly hilarious Frances McDormand and written and directed by the equally hilarious Coen Brothers.

Matilda (1996)

The film that made a generation of kids stare at glasses of water in the hopes that they could knock them over with the power of their minds. Based on the story by Roald Dahl, directed by Danny De Vito and starring the cutest child star of all time, Mara Wilson.

Here’s some other notable films turning 20 this year: – Mission: Impossible, Trainspotting, Happy Gilmore, Jerry Macguire, Scream, 101 Dalmatians, James and the Giant Peach, Space Jam, Twister, The Birdcage, Fly Away Home, The Cable Guy, Hamlet and The Crucible.
