It’s hunting season, fam! And by hunting, I mean (of course) Daemon Targaryen is hunting for vengeance in the latest episode of House of the Dragon.
If I had to describe Monday’s episode in one word, it would be: epic. It had it all: a massive time-jump that had us all shook, Rhaenyra acting like the baddie she is, King Viserys continuing to be bad at everything, and Daemon killing many many bad people.
The third episode skips several years in the future as Viserys and Alicent aren’t just married, they have a male son Aegon and another baby on the way. This has left Rhaenyra on the outs, as she’s grown resentful over whether she is still the heir to the iron throne, which all comes to a head on a hunting expedition. It’s here that Rhaenyra realises her father is trying to marry her off to Jason Lannister, who she rejects before running off to tackle wild boars with Ser Christen Cole. We don’t deserve her!
Meanwhile over in the Stepstones, Corlys, and Daemon are losing a war against the Crab Feeder and his armies. In the series’ first big battle scene, Daemon goes head-to-head with an entire army after being left enraged when his brother, Viserys, offered to help him. How very dare he! In a hectic moment, it appeared like Daemon was about to be swarmed by hundreds of pirates before the rest of his army and a dragon rushed in to battle them off.
In the final shot, a blood-soaked Daemon dragged the corpse of Crab Feeder. King shit. It was a sensational episode that’s copped stellar reviews already, so what better than to relive it all via some of the funniest tweets.
