We Guessed The ‘I’m A Celebrity’ Contestants Based On The Confusing Clues
We’ve had a few blissful weeks without reality TV, but as soon as the new year begins I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is kicking off and tbh, my body is ready.
All that’s left to find out is which celebs will be heading into the harsh jungles of South Afr–Murwillumbah in New South Wales. That’s right, due to coronavirus restrictions, this year’s season will be filmed locally — in the same camp where the UK series is filmed.
So who will be eating snails and bungee-jumping off cliffs next year?! We’ve analysed every clue Network 10 have dropped so far to identify the 2021 contestants.
If you followed our The Masked Singer coverage, you’ll know we love to guess the secret identities of celebs — and sometimes we’re even right! I am aware that I incorrectly guessed that Grant Denyer was on The Masked Singer, but I’m back again to argue that he is a contestant on this year’s I’m A Celebrity. Surely, I can manifest it this time.
While a few of these guesses are a stab in the dark, some of these clues made it a little too easy for us…
We Guessed I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here’s Contestants Based On The Confusing Clues:
Reality Star
Clue: “A reality star is heading into the Aussie jungle. One last pedicure before the claws come out.”
Will this Celeb be able to handle the reality of life in the Aussie Jungle? #ImACelebrityAU starts, January 3 on 10 pic.twitter.com/Wh080TXjME
— #ImACelebrityAU (@ImACelebrityAU) December 9, 2020
Guesses: The Bachelor’s Abbie Chatfield has been a name floating around for awhile, but tbh, the description saying, “one last pedicure,” doesn’t really feel like Abbie. It reminds me of a more high maintenance reality star like Real Housewives of Melbourne’s Gina Liano or Lydia Schiavello. Even a Married at First Sight bride, like Sarah Roza or Jessika Power, would fit the bill.
Blonde Villain
Clue: “A blonde bombshell is heading into the Aussie jungle. She loves playing the villain…but to many she’s become a hero.”
She's blonde and she's known for dropping some ?s but will this one time villain become a jungle hero? Find out when #ImACelebrityAU kicks off Jan 3 on 10 and 10 play! pic.twitter.com/9wDcbAdsuR
— #ImACelebrityAU (@ImACelebrityAU) December 20, 2020
Guesses: Now THIS sounds more like Abbie. Blonde? Tick. Portrayed as a villain on her season of The Bachelor? Tick. And since finding reality TV fame, she has become a heroic figure to legions of fans for her body and sex positive Instagram and podcast, It’s A Lot? Tick Tick Tick. Lock it in. This simply has to be Abbie.
Reality TV Singer
Clue: “A great singer who has sung on the world stage and now will be singing for his supper. Will a killer voice be enough to end on a high note and claim King of the Jungle? Or will coming face-to-face with creepy crawlies send them off-key?”
He's an idol to many, but does this Great Singer have the X factor to get him through the Aussie jungle? #ImACelebrityAU starts January 3 on 10 pic.twitter.com/0eNhi1in7b
— #ImACelebrityAU (@ImACelebrityAU) December 13, 2020
Guesses: The mention of “idol“ and “X factor” is obviously trying to make us think that this next campmate will be from one of those shows, but we reckon they’re trying to lead us astray. Australia’s Got Talent and The Voice contestant Jack Vidgen has been spotted filming the show and he fits the description as he has appeared on America’s Got Talent: The Champions aka he “has sung on the world stage”. Other options could be Australian Idol’s Rob Mills or The X-Factor’s winner Isaiah Firebrace.
Aussie Comedian Abroad
Clue: “A comedian is heading into the Aussie jungle. When he was in the Hollywood jungle, he had anger management issues.”
This Comedian won't be laughing for long once they see what we have in store for them ? #ImACelebrityAU starts, January 3 on 10 pic.twitter.com/GRvGlYVhOb
— #ImACelebrityAU (@ImACelebrityAU) December 10, 2020
A comedian who found success in the US over being angry? Chris Lilley comes to mind, with his parody series Angry Boys that aired in the US. Then there’s Ronnie Chieng, he’s known for his angry rants on stage and he’s currently a correspondent on The Daily Show in the US. However, these two are probably too famous for reality TV, so my money is on Ash Williams: an Australian comedian who had a guest role in US sitcom, Anger Management.
A Double Act
Clue: “A double act is heading into the Aussie jungle. This opinionated twosome is used to dishing it out… but now the shoe is on the other foot.”
Don't look twice but this season we're bringing you double the trouble for the price of one! I’m A Celebrity… in Australia starts, January 3 on 10 #ImACelebrityAU pic.twitter.com/tGhhTXK7BW
— #ImACelebrityAU (@ImACelebrityAU) December 6, 2020
Guesses: A famous double act who already have a contract with Network 10? Could it be outgoing Bachelorettes Elly and Becky Miles? Probably not, as neither is known for being particularly “opinionated”. It’s more likely to be a radio duo like Fitzy and Wippa, or even a couple of Googlebox stars. This wouldn’t be the first time Googlebox was represented on the show, with fan faves Yvie and Angie cast on the 2019 season. Praying for OGs Keith and Lee, or siblings Tim and Leanne.
Football Star
Clue: “A Brownlow winner is heading into the Aussie jungle. But keep it on the downlow…Will they be crowned King of the Jungle or bomb out entirely?”
Guesses: I know nothing about footy, and it turns out there’s been A LOT of Brownlow Medal winners — so there are far too many options. The mention of “bomb out” could be hinting at the player winning while representing Essendon’s Bombers, which would point to recent awardees James Hird (1996 winner) or Gavin Wanganeen (1993 winner). Or alternatively, other high profile Brownlow winners like Shane Crawford or Chris Judd.
Funny Lady
Clue: “A very funny lady is heading into the Aussie jungle. This stand up is used to things heating up.”
Will this funny lady be able to stand up and laugh her way out of this? I’m A Celebrity… in Australia starts, January 3 on 10 #ImACelebrityAU pic.twitter.com/nAZiKAQz5W
— #ImACelebrityAU (@ImACelebrityAU) December 4, 2020
Guesses: OK, so the term “funny lady” could be pointing us in the direction of a standup comedian BUT I get the vibe that this is a woman is funny in a different way — and all signs point to Celeste Barber. She found international fame for hilariously taking the piss out of models on her Instagram. Most recently, Celeste helped raise a whopping $51 million for this year’s bushfires, which the phrase “used to things heating up,” could be hinting at, or towards the fact she frequently speaks about her ‘hot husband’ Api. Other possible candidates are Becky Lucas and Celia Pacquola.
Aussie TV Star
Clue: “One of the biggest names on Aussie TV is heading into the Aussie jungle. Pretty brave considering he’s afraid of monsters.”
Will this massive TV ⭐️ be able to handle an audience of creepy crawlies? ? #ImACelebrityAU starts, January 3 on 10 pic.twitter.com/3wOTvKyJuf
— #ImACelebrityAU (@ImACelebrityAU) December 3, 2020
Guesses: This could be literally hundreds of different famous men on TV. It’s a rather vague clue, but one detail that’s worth noting is the part that reveals “he’s afraid of monsters.” Grant Denyer infamously broke his back after a monster truck accident in 2008, and he fits the bill in terms of being one of Australia’s most well-known TV stars. Another option could be Rove McManus, who lent his voice to cartoon Monster Beach, but my money is on Denyer.
A Diva
Clue: “A true diva is heading into the Aussie jungle. You’d think she’d be okay with spiders but we’ll see.”
Our spidey senses are tingling with this incoming DIVA ?#ImACelebrityAU, Jan 3 pic.twitter.com/NrikUYH73X
— #ImACelebrityAU (@ImACelebrityAU) November 27, 2020
Guesses: This is Australian Idol’s Paulini Curuenavuli, they ain’t even trying to be mysterious with this one. First up, she was a member of the Young Divas, which is referenced by the mention of her being a “true diva”. Secondly, she was unmasked as The Spider on the first season of The Masked Singer, aka “you’d think she’d be OK with spiders.” Paulini was also spotted filming the show, so her inclusion in the 2021 cast is pretty much a done deal.
A Famous Chef
Clue: “A renowned chef is heading into the Aussie jungle. And we can’t wait to feed him critters.”
It's Clue Time! ? Here's your first TASTE ?? at one of our celebs heading into the Aussie jungle.#ImACelebrityAU, Jan 3 pic.twitter.com/lpvlGjN8XJ
— #ImACelebrityAU (@ImACelebrityAU) November 26, 2020
Guesses: It’s not hard to figure out that this contestant was supposed to be Pete Evans, who was recently fired by the show after sharing Nazi symbols online. Who will replace him? It looks like it’s going to be Evans’ My Kitchen Rules costar, Colin Fassnidge. He’s handsome, he cooks, he has an accent, which has historically boded well for I’m A Celebrity contestants — just ask last year’s winner, Miguel Maestre. Other TV chef options include former MasterChef judge George Calombaris or Curtis Stone.
Soap Star
Clue: “Only time will tell if this star of the street will strut away with the crown, but we’ll let you in on a secret: she’s going to need all the soap she can get in there. Here’s hoping she doesn’t get cold feet and make a hasty retreat.”
Run, don't walk, to this next Celeb clue! How will this Star Of The Street deal with getting grotty in the Aussie jungle? #ImACelebrityAU, starts Jan 3 on 10 pic.twitter.com/HXgDnYKXGO
— #ImACelebrityAU (@ImACelebrityAU) December 17, 2020
Guesses: Reading in between the lines here, we seem to be talking about an actress who has appeared on Cold Feet and a soap with “street” in the name, which is likely referring to long-running UK soap, Coronation Street. This gives us quite a few options, as the UK television pool is rather incestuous and many stars have appeared on both shows.
My money is on Sacha Parkinson, she appeared on Coronation Street between 2009 and 2011, along with the recent Cold Feet revival earlier this year.
Radio Jock
Clue: “Radio hosts are renowned for oversharing every aspect of their lives on air, but will time in the Aussie jungle see this celebrity reveal too much? Curious to know who it might be? One thing’s for sure, we hope she likes bugs for breakfast when she swaps her alarm clock for a body shock in our Aussie jungle.”
She may be used to early starts but how will this Radio Star go waking up to the sounds of the TERRIFYING Aussie jungle? ??? Can you guess who? #ImACelebrityAU, starts Jan 3 on 10 pic.twitter.com/xSYaCnEuHx
— #ImACelebrityAU (@ImACelebrityAU) December 15, 2020
Guesses: Ok, so we’re dealing with a female radio host who works the morning shift and is known for “oversharing” on her show. Options for jocks still currently on air include Fox’s Fifi Box, Nova’s Chrissie Swan or even one of the departing triple j hosts, Sally Coleman or Erica Mallett. Alternatively, previous morning radio hosts like Kate Langbroek or Jo Stanley would also fit the description.
I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! premieres January 3 on Network 10.
