The Waiter Involved In The James Charles Saga Has Admitted He Lied
Just when we thought we’d reached a moment of calm in the beauty YouTuber community, one of the key players in the James Charles and Tati Westbrook saga has dropped a bombshell.
The waiter mentioned in Tati’s original video, Sam Cooke, posted a video earlier this week titled ‘im sorry james’ where he admits to lying about what went down between him and the famous YouTuber.
So this is Sam Cooke. The used to be bi-curious, straight, 19-year-old busboy who James Charles hit on at Tati’s birthday party in Seattle on Valentine’s Day, who then slid into James’ DMs, came to his hotel room and made out with him for an hour. If you’re a little lost over who this person is, here’s a refresher:
In Tati’s savage takedown, she said that she saw James act inappropriate with a waiter (Sam) and tried to manipulate him over his sexuality. Sam initially backed up what Tati said but has now done a 360 and claims it was all a lie.
“I know everyone is past this, but I felt it was right to get this out there and make things clear. I want to apologize to James,” he posted in the video summary.
Check out the full apology to James Charles below:
In the clip, Sam recounts how he seized on the controversy for his own benefit and lied in his original video by making out that James was “playing two straight guys.”
“The things that I said in my past video are not all true and I wanted to come clean about it,” he said, adding that he felt pressured from friends and family to gain fame and followers from the entire ordeal.
“We made the video and painted James Charles in a light that wasn’t right. We villainised him for our own good and that is wrong,” he said.
The apology is already becoming a meme on Twitter, with users joking that it was a forced confession with James pulling the strings.

Since Tati’s (now deleted) ‘Bye Sister’ video went viral, James lost over 2.5 million subscribers. However, following the release of his own video ‘No More Lies’ which outlined a few discrepancies in Tati’s account, James has since regained most of his followers.
What a time to be alive!
