KFC Launched A Couture Fashion Line And Yes, You Read That Right

The Colonel (or at least his marketing bigwigs) has conjured up a master plan that will see people pay actual money to act as human KFC billboards in the form of the brand’s new couture merch line.

Yep, you read that correctly. KFC has debuted a whole-ass clothing line dubbed KFC Couture that includes trackies, jumpers, vintage-inspired tees, and a bum bag which all feature some variation of their branding.

They’ve got a varsity jacket featuring the Colonel’s happy face, a red and white bucket hat with “it’s finger licking good” emblazoned, and even a bum bag with a rogue chicken drumstick embroidered on it.

If that wasn’t enough, the debut of the merch line — which includes a whopping 23 products — was celebrated with a high fashionesque catwalk show that featured a Kentucky Fried Angel complete with huge wings made out of chip boxes.

Unfortunately, we live in a world where absolutely nothing is cheap these days and even fast-food branded merch costs a pretty penny. If you’re looking to spruce yourself up in some KFC threads, at the very least you’ll be forking out $20 just for a pair of socks, while the premium varsity jacket is priced at a whopping $90.

Thankfully, the saving grace of the premium prices is the news that an undisclosed amount of the profits from the merch sales will go to the brand’s mental wellbeing charity KFC Youth Foundation, as well as its partners including the Black Dog Institute, ReachOut Australia and Whitelion.

“We’re so excited to put KFC on the runway ahead of Sydney Fashion Week and even more thrilled to answer the call from our fans to bring this iconic range of merch to Australia with profits from sales going to support Aussie youth mental well-being through the KFC Youth Foundation,” KFC Australia’s Chief Marketing Officer, Sally Spriggs, said about the merch line.

The clothing launch follows in the footsteps of similar KFC merch collections in the UK, which reportedly sold out in minutes. You can shop the full Australian range here.

Apparently, KFC is so much more than just fried drumsticks, overly salted chippies, and healthy servings of mash and gravy. Who knew?
