Let’s Discuss The Time Kim Kardashian Was Auctioned Off To Fight A Stranger On ‘KUWTK’

The Kardashian family are back where they belong: in another reality show, this time simply titled The Kardashians.

The new series follows a mammoth 20 seasons of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, with the rebooted show expected to be an even more intimate glimpse into the lives of one of the world’s most famous families.

With the new season just beginning, we decided it’s time to look back on the original show’s more problematic moments. Namely, the time in 2009 when the family were auctioned off to fight strangers for charity. Caitlyn Jenner organised a boxing fundraiser to raise money for the Dream Foundation, and random people could bid to box against Caitlyn, Rob, Khloe… and even Kim Kardashian.

Could you imagine being allowed to pay to beat up at reality TV star in 2022?! What a cooked time!

And the people who bid to box the Kardashians did not hold back when it came to their fights. During Rob’s match, his opponent went a little too far. “I do not know what’s up with this dude,” Rob said in his confessional. “This is supposed to be for charity and this dude is coming at me with full force just trying to rip my head off — no jabs, no nothing.”

As the fight continued, the Kardashian family started to freak out. “What the hell? Why aren’t they stopping this?” Kim said in confessional. Rob was cornered in the ring as the guy pounded him and most alarmingly, Rob’s protective headgear was starting to come off. “This is not what we signed up for!” momager Kris Jenner yelled at the event’s MC.

The referee called off the fight, but tensions were high as Kim was expected to battle next. “This was to raise money, this wasn’t to get the shit kicked out of us,” Kris said backstage. “I am stopping this right now because the people that came to fight us want to hurt us,” Kris said in her confessional. While it looked like Khloe was supposed to fight next, she seemingly pulled out after seeing how badly beaten Rob was.

WHAT IS HAPPENING???

With the pressure on Kim to compete, she pulled Kris aside. “Mum, can I talk to you for a second? I’m scared for my life, I don’t want to do it,” she said. “I don’t want to do it, I feel really guilty.” Kim ended up going through with the fight, as she had bonded with a young woman benefitting from the charity, and she didn’t want to be a “coward” by pulling out.

The fight started badly, as Kim’s opponent landed a few punches to Kim’s stomach and head. “Not again, I can’t watch another of my kids get slaughtered out there,” Kris fretted as she watched on. But to her credit, Kim didn’t take much shit. “This girl is pounding on me and I’m starting to get angry,” Kim said, before she unleashed. She struck her opponents head with some powerful jabs, but she lost the fight in the end.

Kim ended up badly bruised but said it was worth it because she raised, umm… $11,000 for charity. “It was absolutely insane [but] at the end of the day, we did this for charity and that’s what counts,” Kim wrote in a blog post (so 2009!) via E! Online.

“Rob is doing fine now and my black eye will be gone soon…I hope. You can try to bring the Kardashians down…but we’re a strong family.”

These days, every move the Kardashians make (and Kim especially) is always heavily calculated and executed, so it’s simply wild that this was ever allowed to happen.
